**DIGITIZATION DETAILS:
1. Art submissions for judging purposes can be put collectively on one(or more if you wish) flashdrive(s) per district/school/department andmust be accompanied by individual signed submission forms as per theGuidelines. Also, districts need to complete the Digitized Submission
Checklist excel/hard paper spreadsheet provided by Sullivan BOCES that will correspond to each entry on the flashdrive(s).
2. Exceptions include animation, video, Creativity Award, and portfoliosubmissions.
3. Animations and videos must be submitted individually on a DVD for TVviewing.
4. For each new Creativity Award submission you will need 2 jpgs copieson separate CD-ROMS one of which will go to the Hudson Valley Affiliateand one of which will go to National. The jpg must be 1MB to 10MB infile size.
5. Each Portfolio submissions should be on a separate CD-ROM and beaccompanied by an envelope with the other specific paperwork requiredfor portfolios as per the Guidelines (identified in the regional link under art categories and preparing instructions. This way, if they arewinners, they will be ready for upload to National.)
6. After the Gold winners are identified during the adjudicationprocess, we will be using the National DAM upload process to submitwinners to National so NO further CDs will be necessary at that point.Again exceptions include animation, video, the Creativity Award, andportfolio submissions.

Scholastic Art Awards

Sullivan County BOCES and a consortium of organizations, Dutchess BOCES, Ulster County BOCES, the Middletown School District, and the Orange County Arts Council, have come together to organize and present the Regional Scholastic Art Awards Program for Dutchess, Orange,
Sullivan and Ulster Counties. 

This is our second year as a four-county region affiliate.  The Scholastic Art Awards, which are open to students in grades 7-12, bring outstanding
visual arts by teenagers to an audience by showcasing their remarkable work and encouraging their creative journey and career development. 

Awards will be presented on both the local and national level of the
Scholastic Art Awards, and high school seniors who submit portfolios are considered for more than $1.5 million in tuition scholarships at colleges across the nation.  Last year, two of the National Art Portfolio Gold Award recipients were from Ulster and Dutchess counties.

Includes:

  • Personalized assistance with paperwork, the website, and guidance with online registration 
  • The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2009 book
  • Scholastic Art Award posters
  • An arts exhibit showcasing our students’ artwork
  • A ceremony presenting awards to our students
  • Certificates, pins, programs, and congratulatory letters for students based on award level

School’s role:
Provide a designated person to help with the school’s collection of artwork, digitize the art work, and to drop off the artwork of Gold and Silver winners at a BOCES collection site.
